Have you ever had the pleasure of building a house for the fairies?
Since my kids were little, we've spent many hours in the woods or park or even back yard hunting for materials and creating homes for these fantastical little creatures. Mostly constructed of sticks, bark, rocks, and moss, these houses only lasted for a short time before a breeze knocked them down....but the process of hunting and building went on and on as more houses were imagined and created in their place.
Over the weekend, my daughter and I had the opportunity to spend some time creating together (which is going to become a more regular date for us). This time, we built a house for the fairies that would last a while.
Still created of mostly natural materials, it's held together with a glue gun this time. Once constructed, it was so much fun to decorate!
This is the top of the house with a cozy moss floor, some sea glass, a few pebbles and pine cones, and even a marble gazing ball. The perfect place for a sweet tired fairy to take a nap, don't you think?
Take a peek inside the house where you'll find another fairy "hanging out" next to her desk.
The back of the house has the 2nd floor pumpkin garden, and of course, a swing made of bark.
What you can't see in our house is that it also has a little battery pack of lights strung throughout the inside and on top...the glow is so pretty at night. We are already imagining more houses to make and a special garden to put them in.
Enjoy an afternoon with your imagination, creating something special. It will be time well spent.
Ohhhh, I just love you little house. It is darling. Me and my boys gather things to make little houses when we go hiking in the woods. So much fun to hunt and gather special little pieces of this and that.
You both did a wonderful job. I bet your daughter is very proud.
